Telecom minister called on Rotarians to come forward in creating digital skills
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar called on Rotarians to come forward to create digital skills. The minister made the call while addressing a virtual function as the chief guest at the Rotary Club of Anandadhara, Dhaka on Saturday night to mark its 7th Chartered Day.
Rotarian Barrister Motasim Billah Farooqi, TIM Nurul Kabir, Sakina Rahman, FM Alamgir, Rubayet Hossain and Farid Alam Newton were also present on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Mustafa Jabbar expressed his conviction to make 65% of the young population as the people of the digital age.
He advised Rotarians to adopt new action plans in the development of digital skills as well as humanitarian services in the newly changed world situation in the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said there is no alternative to acquiring digital skills to meet the challenges of tomorrow's digital technology, including artificial intelligence, robotics and IoT. And digital connectivity is the vehicle for the development of the next civilization.
Despite missing three industrial revolutions in the past, Bangladesh has qualified for the leadership of the fourth industrial revolution, the minister said.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to build a better Bangladesh by 2041 by establishing a knowledge-based digitally equal society. She is also moving forward with the vision of what will happen to Bangladesh in 2011 and 2100. It cannot be implemented unless the future generation is made capable.
